THE TECH

Any investigator worth their salt has the right gear to do the job. The same goes with Paranormal Investigators. Our team is relatively new and small and our gear cost comes out of our own pockets or is generously donated to us from our wonderful sponsors, who's information is brandished on every page on this site out of pure appreciation.

This page covers some of the fun investigation gadgets we would use on any investigations we carry out...

DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the staple of any investigators inventory.

Ideally we will have our own digital cameras to use throughout the night to snap in the direction of any strange occurrences.

VIDEO CAMERA

One of the more, er, expensive parts of an investigators kit. Ideally you would have a good infra-red, night vision rig (so you can see everything, everywhere, any time) with a thermal imaging setting to catch cold spots.

We are currently after one of these! So, digital camera video captures and cellphones it is... For now.

EMF METER

EMF meters measure fluctuations in electromagnet fields. Theories in the paranormal field suggest that ghosts have the ability to manipulate these fields.

An EMF meters is another staple piece of equipment used in our investigations. If anyone is feeling a bit weird, we can crack out the EMF.

EVP RECORDER

EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) recorders are used by us to try and record any potential communication from the spirit realm. We get the majority of our evidence from this invaluable tool.

Ask some questions... You may just get an answer from the beyond.

TEMPERATURE GUAGE

These handy point and shoot devices can detect influxes of temperature. Since most paranormal events come with a sudden temperature drop (explained by the heat energy in the room being used by our invisible visitors) it is handy to have one to point at any strange cold spots.

Maybe there is something there? Maybe it's just a cool breeze?

SPIRIT BOX

The theory behind Spirit Boxes is that the white noise and the fast scanning of radio frequencies give the energy for entities to get their voices through to us. We scan backwards so we don't mistake any radio stations for ghostly voices.

It is a relatively new (but amazing) tool for us investigators and is quickly becoming another staple item. We love our little spirit box. It has yielded some interesting results for us in some places.

PARABOLIC MICROPHONE

If there is anything that will make you feel like a super secret investigator, this is the gadget!

This microphone is used in police surveillance to eavesdrop on bad guys. We use it to eavesdrop on ghosts.

It is a brilliant tool for enhancing our EVPs. It has a handy recording function too.

A parabolic microphone is a microphone that uses a parabolic reflector to collect and focus sound waves onto a transducer. If you point it in a particular direction, to will hear the tiniest sounds VERY loudly.

Got mice in your walls? They will sound like a heard of elephants!

MOVEMENT DETECTING CHIME

Ever walked into a store and been deafened by the screeching of a door chime to alert the employees of your presence?

Yeah. This is one of those. If there is something moving, the super sensitive sensors will pick it up and let out a piercing warning of movement.

While extremely disconcerting when it goes off in a scary dark room (usually one that nobody is in) it is a very handy tool for us.

CCTV SYSTEM

We were really lucky to have one of these donated to us by our sponsor Integrated Consulting.

As well as giving our "Base" the ability to see and record everything going on anywhere a camera is set up, we are also able to keep a watchful eye on each other for safety's sake. Ghosts will not hurt you, but falling down a hole might, and it's a pretty real danger in the dark. Most investigators are hurt by falling, tripping or running in to hard objects.

The CCTV is our big brother... Sometimes big brother catches interesting things on video too!

K2 METER

The K2 Meter is used to detect fluctuations in electromagnetic frequencies. It works on a different system to the EMF Meter which uses Hall Effect sensors to detect EMF. The K2 instead uses broadband pass technology, which makes it more sensitive and able to pick up radio frequencies as well.

We have a lot more action on the K2 meter, that's for sure!
